Dr Modarres is a dual-trained physician with a broad foundation in general practice, musculoskeletal medicine, and multidisciplinary pain medicine. In February 2025, he completed a two-year training program in Multidisciplinary Pain Medicine at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. During this time, he gained extensive experience in the assessment and management of complex acute and chronic pain conditions. His role involved conducting comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, formulating evidence-based management plans, and performing a variety of interventional procedures, including image-guided spinal and peripheral joint injections.

Prior to his pain fellowship, Dr Modarres worked as an Orthopaedic Registrar and later as a Surgical Assistant for eight years. He has been directly involved in over 2,000 total hip and knee arthroplasty procedures, which has provided him with in-depth knowledge of musculoskeletal pathology, perioperative care, and post-surgical rehabilitation. This experience contributes to his nuanced understanding of the relationship between structural pathology and functional impairment—an essential perspective in both musculoskeletal and pain medicine.

Dr Modarres obtained his medical degree from Isfahan University of Medical Sciences in Iran and relocated to Australia in 2009. He has over 15 years of experience in General Practice and has held Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) since 2014. In 2022, he further expanded his scope of practice by completing the Fellowship of the Australian College of Medical Acupuncture, reinforcing his commitment to evidence-informed, non-pharmacological treatment strategies.

Dr Modarres integrates his diverse training and clinical background to bridge the gap between primary care and specialist pain services. His practice is informed by a holistic, patient-centred approach that combines general practice principles, procedural precision, and interdisciplinary pain management. He is particularly passionate about supporting patients with complex pain and musculoskeletal presentations.
